Dear Parents:

I feel it is important to introduce myself to you, as I will be spending so much time with your child. 

My husband and I moved to Martinsville in January of 1996.  We have one son who is approaching his third birthday, and first time in preschool.  Before "retiring" to raise our son, I worked in banking for 10 years.   

I volunteered to teach the third grade CCD in the fall of 1997 for the first time.  This is now my third year, first for first grade.  I believe the children and I will learn a lot from each other.

The main first grade text is titled "Coming to God".  Please review the text with your child.  The "Faith Alive - At home and in the parish" section at the end of each chapter is a great opportunity for your child to show you what he/she has learned.  Please feel free to work on the pages with them.  There are stickers in the back of the book to place on the page after the review is completed. 

Along with the text, each child will receive a folder.  Please check the folder after each class for important notices, letters and/or information.  I will try to update the announcements page of this site to include this information.

Also, if you have any information for us, place it in the folder, and have your child let us know it is there. 

We welcome comments, suggestions and participation from the parents of all our students.  As we will occasionally be having snacks, please advise us if your child has any food allergies that we should be aware of.  Please don't hesitate to contact either Mary Langdon or me if there's something you'd like to discuss.

We both look forward to teaching your child throughout the next year.
